Heavens Delights is more than just a cake business - it’s a story of passion, resilience, and turning a childhood dream into something real.
Founded by Zarah Henry, the idea came to life in 2020, during a time when the world felt like it had almost come to a standstill. At just 11 years old, while many were uncertain about the future, Zarah used that moment to think, reflect, and create something of her own.
But her journey didn’t start there.
Her love for baking began at just 7 years old, spending time in the kitchen with her dad, making Jamaican fruit cake and banana bread - moments that built not just skills, but a genuine passion. What started as fun quickly turned into purpose, as she began baking for charitable causes, using her talent to give back. That passion naturally evolved into what is now Heavens Delights.
As the business grew, so did the opportunities.
Awards and Nominations
As the business grew, so did the recognition. Zarah received her first award in 2022 from the Roy Anthony Reid Foundation, marking an important early milestone in her journey. Since then, she has gone on to win and be nominated for multiple awards, including being named West Midlands Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2025) and receiving nominations such as the GTX Awards (2025). Each achievement reflects not just personal success, but the steady growth and impact of Heavens Delights as a brand.
Heaven's Delights On the Go
A defining moment in Zarah’s journey was the opportunity to pitch Heavens Delights to Peter Jones CBE (2025), confidently presenting her business on a major platform. Alongside this, she has showcased the brand at major events like the Black Business Show (2023 & 2024) and secured opportunities such as the Eastside Rooms contract, marking a significant step into larger-scale events. Another standout moment was when Steven Bartlett purchased a box of Heavens Delights cupcakes, recognising the quality and creativity behind the brand. These experiences have helped position Heavens Delights as a growing business with both presence and potential.
Media Appearances
Zarah’s journey has also gained strong media recognition. She has been featured in The Voice Magazine (2023) and has appeared on BBC WM Radio (2023 & 2025) as well as BRMB Radio (2024 & 2025), sharing her story and inspiring wider audiences. Alongside this, she continues to speak in schools and youth spaces, encouraging the next generation to believe in their ideas and take action.
Through it all, Heavens Delights has remained rooted in purpose. From baking in her kitchen as a child to building a recognised brand, Zarah has used every opportunity to grow, give back, and bring people together.
One of the most meaningful parts of that journey is The Cupcake Brunch - an idea Zarah first imagined at just 14 years old. With a deep love for music (which she studies at GCSE level), years of experience playing the violin, and a passion for baking and community, she wanted to create something where all of those worlds could come together in one space.
The result was more than just an event - it became an experience.
The Cupcake Brunch blends live music, cupcakes, creativity, and community, giving people the chance to not just attend, but truly feel something. It’s a space where guests can enjoy great food, connect with others, discover young entrepreneurs, and be part of something positive and uplifting.
What started in a The Old Library with a maximum capacity of 120 people has now grown into a much larger platform, with events hosted in venues such as the Eastside Rooms, owned by the Marriott - a reflection of how far the idea has come, and how much it continues to grow each year.
More than anything, The Cupcake Brunch represents what Heavens Delights is all about - bringing people together, creating opportunities, and turning passion into impact.
